Summer 2023: Storytelling through the Arts!
Summer 2023 programming was a hit! This summer Gaining Ground served over 450 students from seven sites in the Tulsa area. Students were exposed to music, movement, and art as they worked to answer, “How can I make my story come alive for the community?”
We are so proud of what the students created and learned this summer. Through project-based learning, students had access to a fun and engaging experience while increasing their literacy skills! At Gaining Ground we aim to reduce summer reading setback for students and we are happy to report that 89% of students that participated in our Summer 2023 Programs met their individual literacy goal! These kids are ROCKSTARS!
As part of a project-based unit, at the end of June, students got to SHOWCASE the art they created for the community at Guthrie Green. Hundreds of students, families, teachers, community members, and more showed up to see what students had worked toward during summer programming. We can’t wait for next summer!
