Position Summary
The Program Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the successful implementation and continuous improvement of Gaining Ground’s literacy programs. This position coordinates the day-to-day program operations, supports Gaining Ground teachers and school site coordinators, collaborates with our school partners' administrative team, and ensures that all programming reflects Gaining Ground’s mission, values, and evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation
Assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of all Gaining Ground programming.
Support program facilitators through coaching, training, and professional development.
Support logistics for all programming implementation for partner schools (materials, scheduling, communication, book inventory/distribution, and individual site needs)
Assist in recruitment, training, and support of program staff, facilitators, and interns.
Partnerships & Community Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, families, and community partners.
Collaborate with partner site leaders to coordinate program delivery and assess impact.
Represent Gaining Ground at community events, meetings, and professional gatherings.
Act as a champion of Gaining Ground with families, partners, and the community.
Assists the leadership team in the implementation of all fundraising events.
Data, Evaluation & Reporting
Collect and analyze program data to assess outcomes and guide continuous improvement.
Prepare reports and updates for the leadership team, Gaining Ground Board, and partners.
Ensure compliance with grant requirements, budgets, and organizational policies.

Strong communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in education, literacy, child development, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Ability to build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and cultures.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in teaching, literacy programming, or nonprofit program management.
Demonstrates understanding of literacy development and project-based learning.
